Marieke Schuurs, musician and teacher


Marieke is a jazz and classical singer, voice trainer and Alexander Technique teacher. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of California Irvine, is a licensed Andover Educator, and is a certified Alexander Technique teacher with Alexander Technique International. She is currently the NW Regional Governor for NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing). She lives in Oregon, and rides motorcycles with her husband in her recreational time.


Marieke has performed main stage roles with Eugene Opera and Cascadia Concert Opera, two Pacific Northwest companies, as well as with several professional small ensembles. More recently, she explored jazz, first with an originals group, ElegantM, then as a solo artist. She released Marieke Schuurs & the Eugene Jazz Collective, a collection of jazz/blues standard, in 2018. She has a new musical project, Twisted Classics, in the works.
